Join me for an inspiring online workshop where you'll learn the traditional art of doll-making from the comfort of your home. Whether you’re new to dollmaking or looking to expand your skills, this interactive experience is perfect for bringing your creativity to life alongside like-minded people.

Under my guidance, you’ll learn step-by-step techniques to create your doll (about 14-inch tall) using high-quality natural materials. You’ll learn how to sculpt a beautifully needle-felted face, giving your doll its own unique personality. You’ll also create the perfect hairstyle of your choice using luxurious mohair and animal fibers, adding the finishing touch to your doll's charm.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain valuable knowledge and skills to confidently continue your doll-making journey and bring more beautiful creations to life.

The workshop is designed as a series of sessions, giving you the flexibility to join the full course or select individual sessions. This makes it perfect for those who want to create a complete doll or simply focus on mastering specific techniques.

The sessions will be taught live on Zoom and recorded, with a link emailed to you after each session. You’ll have access to the class recordings until October, giving you ample time to revisit the lessons, practice at your own pace, and refine your doll-making skills. Between sessions, you can expect some homework to help you progress, and you’re welcome to email me photos of your work for personalized feedback and guidance.

Workshop Schedule

  • Session 1 & 2:

Head/Face Sculpting with a Felting Needle

    March 8 and 15 (Saturdays) - 11 am - 1.30 pm
These two sessions are designed to be taken together, as they focus on sculpting the doll’s head and face using a felting needle.

(These two sessions can be taken either as part of the full course or as a separate workshop.)

  • Session 3:

    Eyes embroidery - March 22 - 11 am - 1.30 pm

In this class, you will learn how to:

    • Decide on the shape of the eyes by sketching them first on paper, experimenting with various shapes to achieve different facial expressions.

    • Determine the right placement of the eyes on the doll’s face.

    • Use a template or trace the shape on the skin fabric properly to avoid distortion.

    • Avoid distorting the skin fabric while working with the embroidery for a clean, smooth finish.

    • Ensure symmetry and proportionality of the eyes, making sure both are evenly placed and sized.

    • Achieve the right thread tension to create smooth, filled-in eye surfaces for a realistic look.

    • Create eyelashes and eyebrows based on the desired facial expression.

(If you choose to take this session individually (not as part of the full course), you will be requested to have a doll's head without eyes to work on during the class. This will allow you to apply the techniques directly to your own doll's head.)

  • Session 4:

    Doll Body stuffing and assembling
    March 22 (Saturday) - 11 am - 1.30 pm

This session is exclusively available to those who are enrolled in the full course and cannot be taken as a standalone class.

  • Session 5:

Doll Hair (Using Mohair and Animal Fibers) April 5 (Saturday) - 11 am - 1.30 pm

Hair is one of the most important and noticeable features of a doll's appearance, and there are so many ways to create it using natural fibers.

In this class, I will be teaching various techniques for creating hair, tailored to your personal preferences. Whether you choose goat locks, mohair, or any other natural fiber, I’ll guide you through the methods that best suit your selected style. You’ll have the freedom to choose the type of fiber and hairstyle that fits your vision for your doll.

While you won’t finish the hair during the class, you’ll leave with the knowledge and skills to complete it on your own, confident in applying the techniques I’ve shared to create a stunning hairstyle for your doll.

(The session on hair-making can be taken either as part of the full course or as a separate workshop.)
