Hello!

I like to think of the art of doll-making as inspiring and calming. I fill each doll I make with love, and hope that this loving energy will carry through to the people who bring my dolls into their families. Welcome to my journal, where I share my creative adventures. Hope you have a pleasant stay!

Gigi - A Redheaded Girl

Gigi - A Redheaded Girl

Gigi is a lively, little (14” long) redheaded girl with fair skin and a face sprinkled with cute freckles. She immediately charms with her gentle demeanor and thoughtful gaze. She is the kind of child who might be found chasing butterflies, riding a wooden horse, or telling fairytales to anyone who would listen. Her energy is boundless, and her quirky sense of humor makes her absolutely delightful.

While most holiday decorations around her start to glow with reds and greens, Gigi gravitates toward the cool serenity of blue and grey.

To her, the world is painted in endless hues of blue: the tranquil ripples of a lake at dusk, the crisp blue of a snowy evening, or the glimmer of a star in twilight. Everywhere she looks, she finds her favorite color, and with it, a sense of beauty and calm that brightens her every day.

A few days ago I found her holding a large conch shell delicately against her ear and focusing entirely on the shell's mysterious hum. The shell, pearly white with swirls of coral pink, gleamed in the warm sunlight. Her expression was one of serene concentration, a slight smile curling her lips as she listened intently, imagining the distant roar of blue waves echoing within the shell.

Her holiday attire is a perfect reflection of her personality: a turquoise-blue mohair/silk sweater, a matching cotton pointelle shirt, paired with a grey cashmere jumpsuit, delicately embroidered with shimmering gold threads.

This thoughtful little girl, wise beyond her years, has learned to embrace the unknown with a practical yet imaginative mindset. Ensuring she is ready for anything Mother Nature might throw her way, Gigi is taking along her summer jumpsuit, made with Liberty of London Tana lawn. To stay cozy, she pairs the jumpsuit with an alpaca hand-knitted coat in a shade of rain. The coat features intricate knit patterns that remind her of summer days in the alpine meadows. She can almost feel the cool mountain breeze and see the wildflowers carpeting the slopes.

She also wears cotton socks and a pair of comfy mohair Mary-Janes. With a knack for accessorizing, Gigi sometimes weaves delicate blossoms into her hair. Whether it’s daisies, forget-me-nots, or wildflowers she’s picked on her adventures, her lovely red hair often carries a hint of the outdoors.

Despite the uncertainty of where she will wake up on Christmas morning, she is ready to meet her mother and embrace the magic of the season wherever it finds her!
