A Forest Maiden
Oops she disappeared again! Here’s a letter I found on the kitchen table...
"Do you like stretching out on the mossy bank of a stream and throwing pebbles into the water? Or playing hide-and-seek with the sunbeam among the rustling spring leaves of a forest? Oh, and maybe climbing the tallest hill and looking down onto the beautiful sloping fields of wildflowers below? Really, there’s nothing like it! I grew up in the forest, roaming it and enjoying all its hidden treasures from the moment I could crawl over my home’s threshold. I have to run around, and jump, and feel the breeze on my face to really feel happy. Obviously, my father, the Woodland king, frowns on what he calls my “silliness” and wants me to grow up a proper girl, but I can’t help it! I try to sit down to my studies (sometimes Forest Law, other times Woodland Mathematics), but the sound of squirrels chirping outside my window makes me restless and, jotting a quick note to my father, I hop out the window and run off to join the squirrels in their fun. I have lots of friends in the forest and sometimes they need my help fending off some mean neighbors or some hungry predators, so I can’t just sit around with my hands in my lap. There’s always some fox creeping up on little ducklings or that horrible owl with hungry eyes searching for little lost chipmunks... Sorry, daddy, there’s always someone from my forest family who needs my help!"
Eva is a 15" handmade doll, crafted with Swiss cotton interlock and stuffed very firmly with clean eco-wool. Her eyes and mouth are embroidered with cotton floss and the cheeks have been blushed with beeswax. Her hair is made with fine goat mohair weft that has been crocheted into a cap and stitched down to the head. She also has little ears, knees, elbows and a cute bum.
She comes wearing a summer floral dress in Liberty print, a pair of Swiss cotton underpants with lace trim and elastic on the legs. Her vest is made with cashmere and lined with matching Liberty print. She has little socks and her shoes are crocheted with mohair/silk yarn and feature sweet wooden buttons in a shape of a cat. Her long scarf is made of fine wool, and a leather bracelet has a lovely silver bead as an accent.
Eva is recommended for an older child 6+ or an adult collector. Her price is $485 plus shipping.
