A Doll-Making Workshop

November 9, 16, 23 (Saturdays)
Level: Beginner

To be able to create a doll you will need basic machine-sewing (making a straight stitch) and hand-sewing knowledge (sewing running and ladder stitches), and familiarity with basic crochet stitches (chain and single stitches).

Together we’ll create a sweet Waldorf-inspired doll, about 14”/35 cm tall. I’ll teach how to form a head, add a cute little nose, stuff and assemble the body, add a bellybutton, and crochet a mohair wig, using a special technique . We’ll talk about proportions, body firmness, and the importance of finding the right balance in a doll’s figure for sitting position.

The class will be taught Live on Zoom and recorded, with a link emailed to you after each session. You can expect some homework between the sessions, and you are welcome to email me photos of your progress for feedback.

The Class schedule:

November 9, 11 am - 2pm EST: - Overview of process - Forming the doll’s head
November 16, 11 am - 2pm EST: Stuffing and assembling the body

November 23, 11am - 2pm EST: Face Embroidery, Adding Ears, Making the hair
